Over the past few years we have been entertained by the Orthodox Church's attempts to maintain its grip over Greek-speaking migrants and their culturally deprived children.  Representatives of the Papadocracy have been at the forefront of brainwashing the young, through so-called 'Greek Schools'.  What is not widely known, is that attempts by parents to open up alternative classes for the teaching of Greek to their children have been ruthlessly quashed and 'offending' parents have had nasty rumours spread about them.  The black-clad parasites have become so concerned, that on 22/10/01 Christodoulos took the unusual step of excommunicating the God Zeus, adding that he was dead.  The panicked priests are so desperate to hold out, that they are now attacking their own people.  What cracks us up is that it took the local branch of the Monastic Empire three days to reach the following resolutions, which they voted for UNANIMOUSLY.  Times are tough.

RESOLUTIONS OF THE 9th CLERGY-LAITY CONGRESS OF THE
GREEK ORTHODOX ARCHDIOCESE OF AUSTRALIA

Sydney, January 26-29, 2003

The Plenary of the 9th Clergy-Laity Congress of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, today, January 28, 2003, unanimously:

1) Affirms that the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia has long supported the convening of a worldwide forum at which strategies for dealing with issues of concern to Greek-speaking people of the diaspora may be discussed under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  The support has its origins in discussions between the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in Australia, His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos, with Greek Ambassador Yiorgos Christogiannis, at the time of the 4th Clergy-Laity Congress in Sydney in 1981.  At that time, it was suggested [sic] by his Eminence that an informal, yet truly representative, gathering of Greeks abroad be regularly convened, at which the Church hoped to play a central and dynamic role.  In its current manifestation, the ‘World Council of Hellenes Abroad’ (SAE) can never aspire to be truly representative of the significant Greek presence in Australia.  In the case of Oceania, it has utterly failed in its most fundamental aim – to represent faithfully Greeks abroad – but it also remains flawed in its essence because its very nature ensures only petty factionalism and quests for personal aggrandizement.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, through its 130 Parish-Communities, calls upon the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and those at the helm of the ‘World Council of Hellenes Abroad’ to take all necessary steps to effect an immediate re-structure of SAE Oceania.  Such re-structure must address critically the criteria currently in place for participation.  It must also seek to achieve at last the true representation of Australia’s largest and most visible institution, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.  It is only by acknowledging and accommodating the central position of the canonical Church in Australia that SAE will ever earn the title of a true ‘World Council of Hellenes Abroad’ for the Greeks of Oceania.

2) Expresses the deepest respect and dedication of both the Clergy and Laity of Australia towards the venerable Centre of Orthodoxy, our Ecumenical Patriarchate.

3) Expresses the gratitude and absolute confidence of both Clergy and Laity towards His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos of Australia, who ably, and with fear of God, leads our local Church for nearly three decades.

4) Values with gratitude the absolute canonical support on the part of the Mother Church, expressed through the Patriarchal representative His eminence Metropolitan Theoliptos of Ikonium, of the handling of issues relating to the Greek Australian community by His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos.

5) Condemns the recent initiatives of the so-called ‘Federation of Greek Orthodox Communities of Australia’ in collaboration with high-ranking officials of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conducted in total ignorance of the responsible local Hierarch, His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos of Australia, and in fact bypassing him.

6) States that the few Greek Australians who are separate from the Canonical Church are always welcome to return to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese – with appropriate guarantees – through the only canonical avenue, who is the responsible local Hierarch, the Archbishop of Australia.

One can only wonder if any of the SAE dudes got nasty phone-calls, accusing them of being Jehovah's Witnesses.
